The bright, pale ruby color in the glass hints at the delicacy of Picnic. A medium intensity nose showcasing pure strawberry puree, cedar and coriander seed is layered with intense florals of lilac and rose petal. The palate shows strawberry, raspberry, sous-bois and a touch of cocoa powder on the finish, with soft, fine-grained tannins. Give this a little time in your glass and you will be well rewarded. The wine is youthful and delicious now, and will continue to develop through 2027. - Shalini Sekhar, Neely Winemaker
“Pale ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Picnic Block has lovely scents of lilac, violet, crushed strawberries and raspberries, rhubarb, powdered sugar, tangerine peel, dried leaves, mushroom and earth. It's light to medium-bodied, concentrated, layered and perfumed, with a firm, fine-grained frame and addicting juiciness, finishing very long and layered. Yes!” - Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate
“The nose is exceptionally expressive lavender, rosehips, plum and forest floor. The palate entry is a delicate floral, spice and dry, textured stone fruit, and a silky herbal finish. Drink 2021 – 2027.” - Doug Wilder, The Purely Domestic Wine Report
